What is happening

The plantar fascia is a thick band that supports your arch. When it is overloaded, it becomes irritated where it attaches to the heel. Tight calves, new activity, long hours standing and unsupportive shoes are common triggers.

How we treat it

Most cases resolve without surgery: a stretching routine, footwear and orthotic changes, and targeted treatment like injections when needed. For stubborn cases that do not respond after months of care, procedures such as a fascia release are an option.

Common questions

How long does plantar fasciitis last?

Many cases improve within weeks to a few months with consistent care. The longer it is ignored, the longer it usually takes to fix.
