What causes sciatica
Sciatica happens when the sciatic nerve is irritated, often by a disc, tight muscles in the hip, or stiff joints in the lower back. Finding which one matters, because each is treated differently.
How Dr. Broome treats it
- An exam to pinpoint where the nerve is being irritated
- Adjustments and mobilization for the lower back and pelvis
- Soft tissue work for the hip and glute muscles
- Nerve-friendly exercises you can do at home
When to see an orthopaedic specialist instead
Leg weakness, numbness that's spreading, or sciatica that isn't improving should be seen by a spine specialist. At Sterling Ridge, that's a referral down the hall, with imaging on site. How to tell
Common questions
Can a chiropractor help sciatica?
